After departing from the trendy Thesen Island Harbour Town jetty, we move across Knysna’s vast estuary and out to sea through the sentinel cliffs of the Knysna heads, moving parallel to our ruggedly beautiful coastline. It is characterised by looming sandstone cliffs, thick swaths of Afro-montane forest and long beaches.
Throughout the year a host of wonderful marine life is encountered in the blue depths adjacent to Knysna, including the Bryde’s whale, (a year-round resident of our waters), dolphins, seals, sharks and rich pelagic bird life. During our Marine Eco Tour, several noteworthy geological formations are pointed out along with interesting anecdotal information, such as historical and cultural facts of Knysna. Our skippers are passionate about this marine environment and the complex web of life it holds and are eager to share their knowledge.
(Please note that this is not a permitted close encounter tour.)
Exiting the Knysna heads is weather and tide dependant and cannot be guaranteed.
